May be the most ingenious of all
In our last post we spoke about ingenious entrepreneurs cashing in on the launch of the iPhone, and what we can learn from them.
Here’s another story, which may be the most creative of all:
Here’s what these creative folks did:
- Bought an iPhone
- Took it apart
That’s right – they completely dissembled their new gadget.
Here’s why:
Apple kept the list of those manufacturing components for the iPhone under lock and key. By dissecting their new phones, these intrepid owners discovered who these suppliers were. And received some hot insider info on what companies might make a good stock investments.
See, the iPhone’s popularity virtually guarantees increased revenues for these manufacturers. Increased revenue = higher stock price.
Our take away as product creators?
- The most obvious avenues to profit may not be the most lucrative. By thinking outside the box (and using a bit of common sense), you can often identify lucrative opportunities hidden in plain sight that will yield hefty returns precisely because few folks have the ingenuity to identify them.
- Longer term profit ideas may be greater than quickie money grabs. Sure, other iPhone entrepreneurs may have profited more quickly. While the cunning investors in this post may have to wait longer, their back end will be much more substantial.
