This key to a profitable product display
Won't cost you a dime
In our previous budget product display story we spoke about an everyday element - the bed sheet - that will run you $10 but help your product display look like a million.
I'd like to steer you in the direction of another do-hickey that can have an even bigger impact on your back-of-the-room spread. And it won't cost you nearly as much.
How about free? Is that OK?
This element is a cardboard shipping box. The ones you get from Amazon.com, or UPS, that you’re probably tossing in the trash as we speak.
Don't you dare!
Because boxes are a cheap but effective way to create the most important quality of a product display: elevation. Because, my friends, there's nothing more boring (or forgettable) than your products displayed face up on a flat table. My eyelids are drooping just thinking about it.

Empty cardboard boxes, strategically placed underneath the beautiful flowing bed sheets we spoke about in part one of our series, can create platforms for you to display your CDs, or binder products. Not only that, but they create interest, so that even the flat, table level areas of your display are much more compelling.
You can really go wild with this. But a few of the most important points:
- I'm Having a Breakdown!
The great thing about boxes is that they're light and you can break them down so they lay flat. Perfect for taking with you when you're on the road. They can even fit in the bottom of a suitcase. When you arrive at your destination, simply put them back together with a bit of tape. You'll feel like a roadie for a rock group! And your display is sure to be a crowd pleaser! - The Wedding Cake Effect
If you're really into this, you can even place several tiers of boxes on top of each other, to create a pyramid effect. Like a wedding cake, make each tier of boxes smaller the higher you go. This will create small but visible little platforms for you to display your products.
You may need a smaller sheet or piece of fabric to cover your tabletop display mini-mountain. It might get a bit unwieldy trying to do it all with the same sheet that covers your table. - Preach to the Choir
You know how choirs are almost always arranged in a semi-circle, on risers? You can create the same effect with your cardboard boxes. This makes a nice little shelf in the front of the table for your flyers and order forms, and a really nice elevated area at the center of your display to showcase your products in all their glory.
You bet, some of this sounds way over the top.
But way over the top is where you’ll get noticed. We live in an increasingly visual society. Don't fight it. Have fun with it! Leverage the visual to create interest and insure your products get noticed. Your terrific content will take it from there.
